2023 Elections: INEC Chairman briefs Chatham House

15% of low-income countries already in debt crisis -IMF

Lagos, Jan. 17, 2023 – The International Monetary Fund (IMF) says about 15 per cent of low-income countries are already in debt distress. In a new report titled ‘Confronting Fragmentation Where It Matters Most: Trade, Debt, and Climate Action’, the IMF said an additional 45 per cent of the population was further at high risk of debt distress. Global economic recession imminent in 2023

Davos, Jan. 17, 2023 – The World Economic Forum (WEF) has predicted that many countries will suffer economic recession in 2023. Their forecast was made at the ongoing World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland. The forecast shows that almost two-thirds of the forum’s chief economists believed in inevitability of recession. NDE disburses N85m loan to 494 trainees

Abuja, Jan. 17, 2023 – The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) says it has disbursed N85 million in loans to 494 beneficiaries under its Environmental Beautification Training Scheme (EBTS). Its Director-General, Abubakar Fikpo, said this on Monday, adding that the loan disbursement was being done under the Special Public Works Programme. Inflation rate drops by 0.13%

Abuja, Jan. 17, 2023 – Nigeria’s inflation rate stood at 21.37 per cent in December 2022 from the 21.47 per cent recorded in November, a drop of about 0.13 per cent .
