Terrorists burnt priest to death in Niger State

Rev Father Isaac Achi, the Priest of St. Peters and Paul Catholic Church in Kafin-koro in Paikoro Local Government Area of Niger State, has been burnt to death by terrorists. The terrorists also razed the catholic parish house and injured his colleague, Father Collins. The incident occurred at 3.00 am on Sunday. 13 supporters of PDP die in truck accident

Jos, Jan. 15, 2022 – Thirteen supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) died in a truck accident on Saturday along Pushit-Panyam road in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State. The medical team of the PDP Campaign Council confirmed the casualty figure on Sunday, adding that 64 victims were receiving treatment from the crash. 29 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed in 6 states – NCDC

Lagos, Jan. 15, 2023 – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has confirmed 29 new cases of COVID-19 in six states between January 7 and 13, 2023. This has brought the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria till date to 266,49  with 259,858 cases discharged, and sadly, 3,155 deaths recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). NDLEA busts drug syndicate, seizes N5bn worth of Tramadol

 Lagos, Jan. 15, 2023 – The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Sunday said it had busted another Tramadol cartel and seized over N5 billion worth of the drugs in a warehouse in Amuwo Odofin area of Lagos State. 10 feared dead in dawn accident on Lagos-Ibadan expressway

Abeokuta, Jan. 14, 2024 – Ten persons were feared dead in a dawn auto crash on Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Saturday. The accident, which happened around 4.30am, also left two other persons with varying degrees of injuries, while seven came out of the wreckage unscathed. LASG closes road, diverts traffic on Ikorodu service lane

Fire burnt 45 shops at Araromi market, Ibadan – official

About 45 shops were burnt down by fire at Araromi spare parts market in Ibadan on Saturday. Rev. Yemi Akinyinka, the General Manager of Oyo State Fire Service, confirmed the incident, saying the fire started at about 2.00am. He said his men were able to put out the fire at around 5.00am on Saturday. “Our men were at Araromi Market Agodi Gate since 2:30 a.m. where they were putting off the fire caused by indiscriminate refuse burning,” he said. NDLEA in Niger arrested 137 drug suspects in 2022

Minna, Jan. 14, 2023 – The Niger State command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) said it arrested 137 drug suspects in 2022.  Haruna Kwetishe, the State Commander, said this in Minna on Saturday while giving a breakdown of the activities of the command in 2022. “In our scorecard for the year 2022, NDLEA Niger Command made a total arrest of 137 suspects; among them are 135 males and two females. “The command also destroyed 21 tonnes of psychotropic substances including 5,656.3 kilograms of cannabis sativa,” he said. …
