Power supply: Nigerian Consulate in S/A disconnected over unpaid bills

Johannesburg, Jan. 19, 2022 – The South African electricity utility company, City Power, disconnected the Nigerian consulate in Johannesburg on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 over unpaid bills amounting to R406,000.   News24 of South Africa reported that Nigerian consulate was one of the buildings affected by the new revenue collection policy of the City Power.   Isaac Mangena, a spokesperson for City Power, confirmed the incident, saying that the Nigerian consulate had been defaulting since 2022 with promises to pay. CBN has waved conditions for accessing new notes – Emefiele

NDLEA seized N500b worth of drugs, properties in 2 years – Marwa

Abuja, Jan. 19, 2023 – The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) seized N500 billion worth of drugs and assets from drug barons in the last two years. Its Chief Executive, Brig.-Gen. Lagos, Jan. 18, 2023 – The Murtala Muhammed Airport Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has said it intercepted hard drugs, and military and police hardware at the cargo section of the airport worth N13.8 billion. Sambo Dangaladima, the Customs Area Controller, told journalists at the command in Ikeja, Lagos, on Tuesday, that 162 cartons of banned tramadol hydrochloride 225 and 250mg, military and police hardware were intercepted at the Skyway Aviation Handling Company.
