Customs seizes 450 drums of calcium carbide

Lagos, Feb. 8, 2022 – The Nigeria Customs Service in Ikeja seized 450 drums of calcium carbide in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, enroute Aba in Abia State in January 2023. Hussein Ejibunnu, the Controller of the Federal Operations Unit Zone A (FOU A), Ikeja, told journalists on Wednesday that the explosives weighed 106 kilograms each. He also said the explosives had a duty-paid value of N24 million. NiDCOM condemns killing of 16 Nigerians in Burkina Faso

Abuja, Feb. 8, 2023 – The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has condemned the killing of 16 Nigerians travelling in Burkina Faso as unjustifiable, callous and criminal. NiDCOM Chairwoman Abike Dabiri-Erewa condemned the killing in a statemen on Tuesday. The NiDCOM chair called on the Burkinabe authorities to fish out the perpetrators and prosecute them. NDLEA seizes large consignments of drugs at Lagos airport

Abuja, Feb. 5, 2023 – The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has seized large consignments of illicit drugs at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. Its Spokesman, Femi Babafemi, who disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, said some persons behind the drugs were also arrested. PSC promotes 1,043 police officers

Abuja, Feb. 5, 2022 – The Police Service Commission (PSC) has appointed three deputy inspectors general of police and promoted 1,043 senior police officers. A statement issued on Sunday by the Head, Press and Public Relations of PSC, Ikechukwu Ani, said the PSC took the decision at its 18th plenary meeting in Abuja on Thursday and Friday. 6 found dead in a vessel in Lagos

Lagos, Feb. 5, 2023 – Six unidentified persons were found dead in a vessel after an accident around Atlas Cove in Lagos at the weekend. The deceased were said to have been working on the tanker of the vessel identified as MT Halima when the accident occurred.  Awka, Feb. 5, 2023 – The Anambra State Fire Service recorded 119 fire incidents in the state in 2022. Martins Agbili, the Director of the Anambra State Fire Service, said this on Sunday.
