Abuja, April 29, 2026 – The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Lamido Yuguda as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The Senate confirmed the appointment on Wednesday after he was cleared by the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions in its report.
Adetokunbo Abiru, the Chairman of the Committee, while presenting the report, said the committee found Yuguda duly qualified for the position based on his qualifications and experience as required by the CBN Act.
Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, later put the nomination to a voice vote which was overwhelmingly approved.
He described Yuguda as a square peg in a square hole and commended the president for his choice fr the appointment.
Yuguda was a former Directr General of the Securities and Exchange Commissin.
