NAFDAC has testing laboratories for fortification – DG

Lagos, Oct 3, 2023 – The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has denied media reports that it had no testing laboratories for fortification. Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, NAFDAC Director-General, said in a statement on Monday that contrary to the reports, the agency had laboratories for analyses of micronutrients in food and had been conducting annual survey on food fortification in Nigeria for the past years. Oil steadies on strong US dollar, mixed supply cues

London, Oct. 3, 2023 – Oil prices stabilised on Tuesday after falling to a three-week low in the previous session on a stronger U.S. dollar, a darkening global macroeconomic outlook and mixed supply signals. Brent futures crept up 2 cents to $90.73 a barrel by 1006 GMT, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude (WTI), edged 12 cents higher to $88.94 per barrel. Transactions dropped on NGX last week – official

Lagos, Oct. 3, 2023- Transactions on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) dropped in value and volume terms last week as 1.339 billion shares worth N17.916 billion were traded in 27,874 deals. This was against the 3.911 billion shares valued at N30.379 billion that exchanged hands in 38,536 deals in the previous week. The Financial Services Industry, measured by volume, led the activity chart with 940.539 million shares valued at N11.370 billion traded in 14,627 deals. Abuja, Oct. 1, 2023 – The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has filed a suit against the 36 state governors for failure to account for the N72 billion for palliatives collected from federal government. The 36 states were given N2 billion each by the federal government for palliatives in their respective states. NDLEA arrests suspected drug kingpin while exporting 3.5kg drugs

Lagos, Oct. 1, 2023 – Obiorah Chigozie Samuel, a suspected drug kingpin, was arrested in Lagos on Thursday by the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) while attempting to export 3.5 kilogrammes of illicit drugs to London. FG announces N25,000 salary increase for low grade workers

Abuja, Oct. 1, 2023 – The federal government has announced a N25,000 salary increase for low grade workers for the next six months.
