Akure, March 11, 2026 – The Ondo State government has begun a routine statewide enforcement exercise to sanitise outdoor advertising landscape and ensure full compliance with extant regulations.
The Ondo State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OSSA) disclosed this in Akure on Monday via a statement issued by Yòmí Oyékàn, the Senior Special Assistant on Signage and Advertisement,
The statement said the enforcement activity, which commenced across major towns and highways on Tuesday, included the removal of dilapidated advertisement structures, illegal campaign banners and unauthorised billboards.
The exercise is also to remove other non-compliant advertising materials that pose safety risks and undermine the environmental aesthetics of our communities.
“This routine exercise forms part of the Agency’s ongoing efforts to maintain order within the outdoor advertising sector while promoting public safety and environmental responsibility.
“Dilapidated structures and illegally mounted materials not only constitute visual pollution but may also pose potential dangers to residents and road users.
“Advertisers, political stakeholders, and business owners are therefore advised to ensure that all signage and campaign materials are properly registered and installed in accordance with the guidelines of the Agency to avoid removal and other regulatory actions.
“The Ondo State Signage and Advertisement Agency remains committed to maintaining a clean, safe, and properly regulated advertising environment across Ondo State,” the statement said.
