Abuja, June 24, 2026 – The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has issued new import permits to some operators covering the July-to-September period.
The permits were issued to allow selected marketers to bring in petrol and diesel amid concerns over supply adequacy noticed in some parts of the country.
According to sources, the beneficiaries include AA Rano, AYM Shafa, Bono, Matrix, Nipco and Pinnacle which received permits to import Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), while AA Rano, AYM Shafa, Bono, Matrix and Pinnacle are to import Automotive Gas Oil (AGO).
AA Rano and Matrix Energy each secured approvals for 180,000 metric tonnes of petrol, AYM Shafa for 120,000 tonnes, and Pinnacle Oil for 150,000 tonnes.
For diesel, AYM Shafa obtained 60,000 tonnes, while Pinnacle received 45,000 tonnes.
The new permits followed an earlier batch released in May following reports of shortfall in the supply of petroleum products across the country.
The shortfall was attributed was to maintenance at Dangote’s Residual Fluid Catalytic Cracker, which cut output by 16% to 44.7m litres/day.
