UAE slams stricter visa application requirements on Nigerians

Lagos, July 9, 2025 – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has introduced stricter visa application regulations for Nigerians.

According to some travel agents in Lagos on Tuesday, the Emirate has placed a ban on transit visa applications, while Nigerians between the ages of 18 and 45 are no longer eligible for tourist visas unless accompanied.

Visa applicants above 45 years are now required to submit their six-month personal bank statements reflecting a minimum monthly balance of $10,000 or its equivalent in naira.

This development is coming barely a year after the UAE lifted a two-year visa restriction on Nigerians.
