Many feared dead in Lagos as staff bus collides with moving train

Lagos, March 9, 2023 – Many people were feared dead on Thursday morning when a  train collided with a bus belonging to Lagos State Government at the PwD/Shogunle area of Ikeja in Lagos State. The bus, conveying workers of Lagos State, was going toward Ikeja GRA through PwD /Shogunle rail crossing when it collided with a moving train as it tried to negotiate the route while passing through the rail track. Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) confirmed the incident and said there were many casualties. (GBN)

NDLEA seizes 13,125kg of drugs, arrests 793 suspects

Abuja, March 7, 2023 – The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency  NDLEA) seized 13,125 kilogrammes of drug substances and arrested 793 suspects in 2022. Mr Kabir Tsakuwa, the NDLEA Commander in the FCT, said this on Tuesday in Abuja at a pre-event press briefing on grassroots sensitisation and awareness campaign on dangers of illicit drugs. Kano fire service saves 45 lives, N95.4m properties

Kano, March 4, 2023 – The Kano State Fire Service says it saved 46 lives and property worth N95.4 million from 82 fire incidents in February. A statement by the Spokesman for the Service, Saminu Abdullahi, in Kano on Friday, said eight persons lost their lives, while properties worth N31.8 million were destroyed by fire during the month. “The Service responded to 35 rescue calls and 13 false alarms from residents in the state during the period,” he said. Abuja, March 4, 2023 – The states that applied to the Supreme Court to withdraw their suit for the nullification of the presidential election result are not withdrawing the suit case totally, but are going to the election petition tribunal to pursue the case. Appeal Court grants PDP, LP’s applications to inspect election materials

Abuja, March 3, 2023 – A Federal Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja on Friday granted separate applications of the PDP and Labour Party to inspect election materials used in last Saturday’s election.
