13,000 shops gutted by fire in Maiduguri market – governor

Maiduguri, March 2, 2023 – Gov. Babagana Zulum of Borno on Thursday said the fire incident at the Monday Market in Maiduguri on Sunday destroyed 13,000 shops. Zulum said this while briefing President Muhammadu Buhari, who visited the scene of the fire incident on Thursday. He said the fire affected at least 20,000 traders. Asaba, Feb. 27, 2023 – An INEC staff was killed by policemen, while some youth corps members were injured in Delta State on Saturday after the elections. Udoh Tom, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Delta, told journalists in Asaba on Monday that the policemen, at a checkpoint in Ukwuani Local Government, shot at the commercial bus conveying election materials. CBN appoints Isa Abdulmumin Acting Director, Corporate communications

Abuja, Feb. 24, 2023 – The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has appointed Aihaji Isa Abdulmumin as the Acting Director of Corporate Communications Department of the bank. Abdulmumin is taking over from Osita Nwanisobi as head of the Corporate Communications Department following his retirement from service on Friday. Abdulmumin, a Deputy Director, has been in the Corporate Communications Department of the CBN since he joined the bank. Nwanisobi took over from Isaac Okorafor in 2020. (GBN)

Appeal Court dismisses Abba Kyari’s bail application

Abuja, Feb.  24, 2023 – The Court of Appeal in Abuja on Friday dismissed the appeal filed by Abba Kyari, a suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, seeking reversal of an earlier ruling by a High Court in Abuja refusing his bail. Justice Stephen Adah read the unanimous judgment of the three-member panel which held that Kyari’s appeal was without merit. Abuja, Feb, 23, 2023 – Magistrate Court sitting in Abuja on Wednesday ordered a tenant, Mrs Oyindamola Ogundipe, to pay an accumulated rent amounting to N11.2 million to her landlord, Mr Monguno.
