Seplat appoints Tony Elumelu as Chairman of Board of Directors.

Lagos, June 10, 2026 – Seplat Energy Plc has appointed Tony Elumelu, the Chairman of Transnational Corporation, as the new chairman of its board of directors.

The appointment, which was announced through a regulatory filing on Tuesday, is to take effect on Jan. 1, 2027.

Elumelu will take over from Udoma Udo Udoma, who is to retire on Dec. 31, 2026.

He joined the board of the company in January 2026 after acquiring about 20.1 per cent stake in the company through a transaction valued at about $500 million.

Elumelu has been a big-time corporate player with interests in many sectors like banking, insurance, energy, technology, real estate, healthcare and hospitality.

He is a banker and former Chief Executive of UBA and later became it chairman.

Elumelu also founded Heirs Holdings as an investment purpose company in 2010.

Responding to the appointment, he said: “I am honoured to succeed Senator Udoma as chairman in January 2027 and to lead the board through Seplat Energy’s next phase of growth.

“I firmly believe in the critical role indigenous resources play in the economic transformation of Nigeria and Africa, and Seplat Energy’s culture of execution and governance aligns strongly with my own values,” he said.

Seplat also announced the appointment of Effiong Okon, as the new Chief Executive of the company.

He is to replace Roger Brown, who will retire from the company on July 31.
