CBN unveils portal for submission of microfinance bank applications
Lagos, Sept. 21, 2023 – The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has unveiled a new online platform for submission of microfinance bank (MFB) licence applications. The platform is known as the CBN Licensing, Approval and Other Requests Portal (CBN LARP). The new online platform will eventually replace the current manual process wherein prospective applicants for MFB licence physically submit their applications to the CBN. Enugu court stops coy’s coal mining operations
Enugu, Sept. 20, 2023 – An Enugu High Court on Wednesday restrained Milhouse Energy Services and African Pits & Quarries Ltd, owners and operators of a coal mining site at Awhum in Udi council, Enugu State, from further mining in the area. Oil prices eased ahead of U.S. Fed rate decision
New York, Sept. 20, 2023 – Oil prices eased on Wednesday ahead of the U.S. Federal Reserve’s interest rate decision, with investors uncertain when rates will peak and how that will affect energy demand. A U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) report showed a weekly draw in crude stockpiles that was in line with analysts’ estimates. 75 passengers died on Lagos roads in 8 months – FRSC
Lagos, Sept. 20, 2023 -The Lagos Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Wednesday said no fewer than 75 passengers lost their lives in road accidents in the state between January and August. The Sector Commander, Babatunde Farinloye, said this in Lagos, adding that 1,611 passengers were involved in the crashes. He also said there were 158 fatal cases and 102 minor ones. Kano Election Tribunal sacks State Gov., Yusuf
Kano, Sept. 20, 2023 -The Kano State Election Tribunal has sacked Abba Kabiru Yusuf as Kano State Governor. The three-man tribunal, headed by Justice Oluyemi Akintan-Osadebay, invalidated the election of Yusuf and declared Nasir Gawuna, the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), as the winner of the election. The tribunal ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue a Certificate of Return to the APC candidate. (GBN)
