Akure, Nov. 20, 2025 – The Ondo State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OSSAA) has commenced large-scale removal of dilapidated signage structures and illegally installed billboards across the state.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by Yòmí Oyékàn, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Signage and Advertisement on Wednesday.
The statement said this exercise was part of the Agency’s commitment to safeguarding public safety, enhancing urban aesthetics, and enforcing strict compliance with approved signage and outdoor advertising regulations.
The statement quoted the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Signage and Advertisement, Yomi Oyekan, as explaining that many of the structures marked for removal pose significant safety risks due to weakened conditions, poor installation standards, or lack of proper authorization.
He said the cleanup was essential to prevent avoidable accidents, reduce visual pollution, and restore orderliness to public spaces.
The Agency’s Special Task Force has already begun removal activities across major streets, business districts, and other strategic locations in the state.
OOSAA also reaffirmed its readiness to collaborate with advertisers, business owners, and stakeholders to maintain a safe, organized, and compliant outdoor advertising environment.
The statement urged members of the public to ensure that all signage installations follow due process and conform to approved safety and regulatory standards.
It promised that the agency will remain steadfast in its mandate to promote environmental order and public safety through consistent enforcement and proactive urban management.
