Abeokuta, July 18, 2026 – The Ogun State Chapter of the League of Veteran Journalists (LVJ) has congratulated Chief Olusegun Osoba, a Journalism Icon and former Governor of Ogun State, on his 87th birthday anniversary on July 15, 2026.
The letter of the congratulation was jointly signed by Veteran Dele Akinsola (Chairman) and Veteran Austeen Elewodalu(Secretary) of the association.
The letter said the veterans raised their pens and voices in joyful celebration of the legendary professional on the occasion.
It reads: “Our Dear Leader, Mentor, and Doyen of Journalism On behalf of the League of Veteran Journalists (LVJ), Ogun State Chapter, we raise our pens and our voices in joyful celebration of a true titan, an outstanding statesman, and a legendary professional.
“Today, as you mark your 87th birthday, we join your family, associates, and millions of well-wishers across the globe to celebrate a life beautifully spent in the service of humanity, journalism, and the nation.”
The veterans said Osoba’s journey through life remains a masterclass in excellence, integrity, and resilience, adding that the former governor, as a consummate journalist, redefined the standards of investigative and developmental reporting in Nigeria

They also said Osoba’s sharp instincts, courage, and dedication to truth had set a benchmark that continues to inspire generations of media practitioners.
“Beyond the newsroom, Osoba’s tenure as the Governor of Ogun State was marked by visionary leadership, grassroots development, and an unyielding commitment to the welfare of the people.”
They described Akinrogun of Egbaland’s leadership as a brilliant testament to his deep-rooted love for heritage and progress.
“To us at the League of Veteran Journalists, you are much more than a statesman—you are our solid backbone and mentor. You have consistently stood on the front lines, defending the independence of the press and advocating for the safety and dignity of journalists’, the letter stated.
“Your unwavering encouragement, wise counsel, and hands-on support for the Ogun State LVJ have kept our flame burning bright. You have never hesitated to guide us with the wisdom of a master craftsman.
“On this special milestone, we pray that the Almighty God continues to renew your strength. May your days be filled with robust health, peace of mind, and the deep joy of seeing the seeds of your labour flourish.
