NGX moves ₦220bn shares in 251,568 deals last week

Lagos, July 13, 2026 -Transactions on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) maintained the upbeat trend last week as 3,648 billion shares worth ₦220.568 billion were traded  in 251,861 deals.

This was in contrast to the 3.821 billion shares valued at ₦154.393 billion traded in 258,567 deals in the preceding week.

The Financial Services Industry, measured by volume), led the activity chart with 2.899 billion shares valued at ₦147.360 billion traded in 106,603 deals. /

The sector contributed 79.48% and 66.81% to the total equity turnover volume and value, respectively.

The Services Industry followed with 164.914 million shares worth ₦3.615 billion in 16,375 deals, while the third place was taken by the Consumer Goods Industry, with 57.451 million shares worth ₦7.777 billion exchanged in 27,950 deals.

Trading in the top three equities, namely First Holdco Plc, Zenith Bank Plc and Fidelity Bank Plc, measured by volume, accounted for 1.745 billion shares  valued at ₦121.828 billion were traded in 31,053 deals.

The three equities contributed 47.85% and 55.23% to the total equity turnover volume and value, respectively.

Sixty equities appreciated in price during the week higher than 22 equities in the previous week, while 28 equities depreciated in price, lower than 57 equities in the previous week.

Fifty-eight equities remained unchanged, lower than 67 recorded in the previous week.

The NGX All-Share Index and Market Capitalization appreciated by 6.35% to close the week at 243,798.76 and ₦156.445 trillion, respectively.

Similarly, all other indices finished higher with the exception of NGX Growth and NGX Sovereign Bond indices which depreciated by 7.43% and 0.02% respectively.
