Abuja, June 21, 2025 – The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says it has arrested 84-year-old man, Godfrey Orji and 75-year-old Godwin Obulunbiya Obiora, for allegedly selling illicit drugs to teenage secondary school students in Umuahia, Abia State.
Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA Spokesman, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.
The statement said the two suspects were arrested following credible intelligence at different locations in Umuahia.
Obiora was arrested while selling illicit substances to young students and others in his patent medicine store located at 4 Club Road, Umuahia, where 4.64 kilograms of drugs including tramadol and diazepam were recovered from him during a search.

In a confessional statement, one of the student, a 15-year-old SS2 student. claimed the 84-year-old grandpa supplies him the drugs which he takes and also sells to fellow students, adding that the two suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are completed just as the students will be counseled and rehabilitated.
The statement said the two suspects were handed over to the NDLEA on Thursday, June 18, 2026.
The NDLEA also said its operatives intercepted a 9.5 kilogramme consignment of ADB Chminaca, a synthetic cannabinoid classified as a dangerous new psychoactive substance, at a courier company in Lagos.
According to the agency, the shipment originated from China and was concealed in a carton.
The agency also seized 300 grammes of Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, hidden inside ladies’ handbags at another logistics company in Lagos on June 16.
It said its operatives in Lagos have also raided the residence of a wanted drug suspect named Lukman Badmus, also known as Lukman Ogombo, in the Ogombo area of Ajah, on June 19, 2026 where it recovered nine bottles of codeine syrup and 30 grammes of skunk.
The NDLEA said a follow-up operation at his wife’s shop on Lagos Island resulted in the seizure of two additional bottles of codeine, drug paraphernalia and 42 compressed blocks of skunk weighing 22.5 kilogrammes recovered from a minibus parked outside the shop.
In Kogi state, NDLEA officers intercepted a 33-year-old suspect called Tochukwu Onah along the Okene-Lokoja highway, with 1.03 kilogrammes of methamphetamine concealed in custard containers, as he travelled from Lagos to Abuja.
NDLEA operatives also arrested a couple, James Tony Chukwudi, 48, and James Kehinde, 35, who have been wanted in connection with the seizure of 117 kilogrammes of skunk in March and were apprehended after months on the run in Ekiti state.
In Oyo state, its operatives arrested 75-year-old Tudun Olubiyi, with Nasiru Buhari, 22, and Buba Musa, 47, with 118 jumbo bags containing 1,416 kilogrammes of skunk concealed with sawdust during a raid in the Dangote area of Elekara, Oyo town.
