Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano presents N1.368trn budget to state assembly

Kano, Nov. 19, 2025 – Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Governor of Kano State, on Wednesday presented a N1.368 trillion budget estimate for 2026 to the State House of Assembly.

Sunusi Dawakin Tofa, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.

According to the statement, the budget is made up of 68% capital expenditure, amounting to N934.6 billion and 32% recurrent expenditure, totaling N433. Billion.

The Education sector has the highest allocation of N405.3 billion, and followed by the infrastructure which has N346.2 billion, while the health sector will receive N212.2 billion.

While presenting the budget to the legislature, the state Governor, Kabir Yusuf, described the 2026 budget as a realistic roadmap to secure a resilient and prosperous Kano State.

“These allocations demonstrate our unwavering determination to invest heavily in human capital development, safeguard the well-being of our people, and lay the physical foundation for sustainable growth.

“The economic and social sectors remain central to our 2026 fiscal plan, with Agriculture, Security, Commerce, Water, Environment, Tourism, Women and Youth Development, and People with Special Needs also receiving substantial provisions,” he said.

Yusuf also said the government was committed to the completion of abandoned project during the year, hence the high allocation.
