Abuja, Jan. 2025 – The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) suspended Max Air from operation for three months following a tyre burst incident involving one of its aircraft in Kano on Tuesday night.
Michael Achimugu, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection in NCAA, confirmed this in a statement on Wednesday.
He said the three-month suspension of operations by the airline would allow for an internal appraisal of the airline’s operations by its management.
“As a result of this incident, Max Air is suspending its domestic flight operations for a period of three months with effect from midnight, 31st January 2025, to allow for an internal appraisal of its operations by its management.
“During this three-month period, the NCAA will conduct a thorough safety and economic audit on Max A,” Achimugu said.
The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau ((NSIB) said it had already has commenced investigations into the incident to unravel what caused the tyre burst.
Bimbo Olawunmi Oladeji, the Spokesperson for the NSIB, said the bureau had already deployed its GoTeam to the site of the incident. (GBN)
