FG expresses readiness to receive Nigerians being deported from U.S.

Abuja, Jan. 29, 2025 – The Federal Government has expressed its readiness to welcome Nigerians who may be deported from the United States.

Abdur-Rahman Balogun, the Director of Media and Corporate Affairs in the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), said this during an interview.

He said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would be leading government’s efforts on the matter, adding that an inter-agency committee had already been set up to manage the situation.

Balogun said the members of the committee comprised the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NiDCOM, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, and the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA).

“The Federal Government has set up an inter-agency committee should there be mass deportation of Nigerians from the U.S.,” he said.

Balogun, however, said NiDCOM was not yet aware of any Nigerians currently being processed for deportation from the U.S.  (GBN)
