Lagos, Jan. 19, 2023 – President Mohammadu Buhari will inaugurate the 13-kilometre first phase of the Lagos Blue Rail Line on Tuesday.
Official sources told the Global Business News (GBN) in Lagos today that the event would hold at Marina Train Station on Outer Marina in Lagos.
The Minister of Transportation Mu’azu Sambo and Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Cui Jianchun will also be at the ceremony.
The Lagos State Governor, Sanwo-Olu, had a test-run of the completed phase one of the Blue Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) scheme on Dec. 21, 2022 when the train travelled from the National Theatre Station in Iganmu to Marina and back.
He had announced that the first phase of rail project would move about 250,000 passengers daily, while the entire line, when completed, would move more than 500,000 passengers.
The first phase of the Blue Line train service will move passengers between Marina and Mile-2 axis of Lagos.
The rail service has five stations at Mile 2, Suru-Alaba, Orile Iganmu, National Theatre and Marina.
The entire Blue Line project is about 27 kilometres stretching from Okokomaiko to Marina. (GBN)
