African countries should stop energy subsidies – AfDB

Lagos, Jan. 20, 2023 -The African Development Bank (AfDB) has advised African countries to stop subsidies on energy consumption to release more resources to bridge the deficit in production. It said that energy subsidies was one of the reasons why Africa countries were experiencing energy insecurity. Energy insecurity means energy deficit when the amount of energy consumed is greater than the amount of energy produced. NDE disburses N85m loan to 494 trainees

Abuja, Jan. 17, 2023 – The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) says it has disbursed N85 million in loans to 494 beneficiaries under its Environmental Beautification Training Scheme (EBTS). Its Director-General, Abubakar Fikpo, said this on Monday, adding that the loan disbursement was being done under the Special Public Works Programme. Lagos, Dec. 19, 2022 – Nigeria and a US firm have signed agreements on clean and reliable electricity on the sidelines of the ongoing US-Africa Leadership Summit.
