CBN directs banks to pay naira notes across the counter

Abuja, Feb. 2, 2023 – The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has directed banks to start paying the new naira notes across the counter. The apex bank said, in a statement in Abuja on Thursday, that the directive was to reduce queues around ATMs across the country. International rating agency downgrades 9 Nigerian banks

Lagos, Feb. 1, 2023 – Moody’s Investors Service, an international rating agency, has downgraded nine Nigerian banks following its downward review of Nigeria’s rating last week. EFCC to raid cities for new note racketeers

 Abuja, Feb. 1, 2023 – The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it will raid outlets of racketeers of new notes in commercial cities. Nigeria’s debt stands at N44trn

Abuja, Jan. 31, 2023 – Nigeria’s total public debt stock stood at N44.06 trillion (US$101.91 billion) as at the end of September 2022. It rose from N42.84 trillion (US$ 103.31 billion) in June 2022.  The debt stock includes external and domestic debts.
