Lagos, Aug. 11, 2024 – The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, (NIMASA) and Chatham House in London have agreed to raise the issue of insecurity in the Gulf of Guinea at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). Lagos, July 23, 2024 -The Nigerian Port Authority (NPA) generated ₦541 billion revenue in the first half of 2024. Mohammed Koko, its outgoing Managing Director, disclosed this in Lagos on Monday while handing over to the new Managing Director, Abubakar Dantsoho. He said the agency also remitted ₦255 billion to the Consolidated Revenue Funds (CRF) during the period. Koko said the performance of the agency in the first half of 2024 surpassed its year-on-year total revenue generation and remittances in any previous year. Lagos, July 8, 2024 – The Apapa Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) generated N1.02 trillion revenue between January and June 2024. Babatunde Olomu, the Customs Area Controller, disclosed this at a news conference in Lagos on Monday. He said that the figure represented a 143 per cent increase over the N421.38 billion generated during the same period in 2023. Port Harcourt, July 1, 2024 – The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) at Onne Port in Port Harcourt has seized a 40ft container laden with arms and nine other containers laden with illicit drugs. Adewale Adeniyi, the Customs Comptroller General, disclosed this at a press conference in Onne on Monday. He displayed the intercepted weapons which were brought from Turkey and the drugs before journalists. Abuja, May 28, 2024 – Adegboyega Oyetola, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, says the four agencies and three agencies under his ministry have increased revenue generation by 92 per cent.  The four agencies are the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), the Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC) and the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA).  He said the earnings of the agencies grew from N126.359 billion in the first quarter of 2023 to N242. 811billion in the first quarter of 2024.
