Lagos, June 10, 2014 – Bismarck Rewane, the Managing Director of Financial Derivatives Company Limited (FDC), has called for more new investments in the Nigeria’s telecom sector. Abuja, May 17, 2024 – The Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) has announced a temporary suspension of three categories of licences issued to different operators in the industry. Those affected are the Mobile Virtual Network Operator Licence, Interconnect Exchange Licence, and Value Added Service Aggregator Licence. A virtual operator is a company that does not own a mobile spectrum licence, but sells mobile services under its brand name using the network of a licensed mobile operator. Abuja, May 16, 2024 – The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has warned Nigerians on the dangers of  buying pre-registered SIM cards. The Commission said the practice is illegal and could lead to severe consequences, including imprisonment. It said individuals using these SIM cards might inadvertently become implicated in crimes such as identity theft, financial fraud, kidnapping, and armed robbery.
