Abuja, July 31, 2025 – President Bola Tinubu has approved the extension of tenure of Bashir Adewale Adeniyi as the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service by one-year.
This was announced in a statement issued on Thursday by Bayo Onanuga, a Presidential Spokesman.
The statement said the tenure extension is to enable the Customs to consolidate ongoing reforms and complete key initiatives under the Tinubu administration.
According to the statement, these initiatives include the modernisation of the Customs Service, implementation of the National Single Window Project, and Nigeria’s obligations under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) protocol.
The statement said the president is confident that the tenure extension would further strengthen Nigeria Customs Service in achieving its strategic mandate of trade facilitation, revenue generation, and border security.
Adeniyi’s tenure is to expire on August 31, 2025, but has now been extended to August 31, 2026.
