Abuja, Feb. 24, 2023 The political camp of the presidential candidate of the main opposition PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, is upbeat about winning, barely few hours to Nigeria’s presidential elections.

The party announced its optimism to beat the other 17 parties contesting the election in a statement in Abuja on Friday signed by Mr Ilemona Onoja, the Head of New Media Department of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council.

The camp’s optimism arises from a recent poll that picked the PDP to win the election. The latest poll, released by POLAF on the state of the 2023 presidential elections, placed Atiku ahead in the election.

The high-stakes election, described by political analysts as a three-horse race between the ruling APD, the main opposition PDP and the Labour Party.

The poll reported a one per cent margin of error with 95 per cent confidence level, saying that if the pattern repeats in the presidential polls it will mark a watershed in Atiku’s political journey.

The polls, which opens in about 24 hours, would be Atiku’s fourth presidential election contest, although he has served previously as a vice-president on the platform of the PDP.

But despite the confidence of the PDP in winning the election, a chieftain of the party, Chief Dele Momodu, has called for caution among members of the party’s campaign team.

Momodu said it was best for the campaign team “to carry on as if this was not there, stretch itself to the final point and obtain the ultimate result that counts before heading into deserved celebrations.”
