Abuja, Jan. 12, 2023 – Godwin Emefiele, the Governor of Central Bank Governor, returned to the country on Wednesday after his vacation abroad. CBN sources confirmed that Emefiele returned to Nigeria on Wednesday and would be in the office today. The CBN governor has been out of the country for some weeks on annual vacation which was said to have ended on Tuesday. Trinidad and Tobago, Jan. 12, 2023 – A London woman, Nadia Joseph-Gosine, died on the morning of her wedding to her fiancé in Trinidad and Tobago. Nadia, 33, was said to have died on December 7, 2022. The cause of her death was attributed to a liver disease not known to her fiancé. Katsina, Jan. 12, 2023 – Three teenagers, who kidnapped a six-year-old girl in Kano and demanded two million naira as ransom for her release, have been arrested by the Katsina State Police Command. SP Gambo Isah, the spokesperson for the Command, said this in Katsina on Wednesday evening. He gave the names of the three suspects, who were all 19 years old, as Abdulrazaq Ibrahim, Aliyu Salisu and Muhammed Ibrahim. Benin, Jan. 11, 2023 – The Edo State Government says the number of abducted passengers at the Tom Ikimi/Ekehen station in Igueben on Saturday were 20 and not 32 as widely reported. Chris Nehikhare, the Edo Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, said seven of the abductees had been rescued, leaving 13 victims still with the gunmen. Nehikhare said security agents, vigilance members and hunters were on the heels of the gunmen. He assured that all the victims would be rescued unhurt and without payment of ransom. (GBN)

Kuala Lumpur, Jan. 11, 2023 – Malaysian analysts on Wednesday foresaw crude palm oil (CPO) prices to trend lower in 2023 on increased supply and slow demand. Malaysia’s leading securities and investment group, Affin Hwang Investment Bank, said in a note that CPO prices could be supported at 3,700 ringgit.
