Akure, Nov. 26, 2025 – The Ondo State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OSSA) has intensified its ongoing removal of dilapidated and unauthorized signage structures across the state.
A statement from the Office of the Ondo State Signate and Advertisement (OSSA), said the action was in alignment with Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to urban development and environmental renewal.
The statement said the renewed enforcement drive followed the governor’s directive to ensure cleaner, safer, and better-organised cityscapes that reflect the administration’s vision for a modern, orderly, and aesthetically enhanced Ondo State.
“The operation specifically targets weak, aging, illegally mounted, and non-compliant billboard structures that pose safety hazards and undermine environmental standards,” it said.
Speaking on the development, Yomi Oyekan, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Signage and Advertisement, explained that the exercise is a critical part of OSSA’s regulatory mandate to sanitize the outdoor advertising environment and enforce compliance with global best practices.
He emphasized the Agency’s commitment to working closely with advertisers, outdoor practitioners, business owners, and community stakeholders to ensure strict adherence to approved signage regulations across the state.
The Agency advisee individuals, business owners, and all stakeholders to ensure proper registration, structural maintenance, and regulatory approval of their outdoor advertisement installations to avoid removal, penalties, or other enforcement actions.
It also reaffirmed its dedication to supporting the governor’s urban development agenda through continuous enforcement, improved environmental management, and an unwavering commitment to public safety.
