NRC takes delivery of 17 locomotive wagons

Lagos, July 18, 2024 – The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has taken delivery of 17 locomotive wagons for its cargo operations.

Fidet Okhiria, the NRC Managing Director, said this while awaiting the arrival of the wagons at the Ebute Metta Railway Station in Lagos.

He described the feat as part of efforts to realise the federal government’s objective of promoting the ease of doing business.

Okhiria said the wagons would facilitate effective operation of the freight services launched by the Federal Ministry of Transportation in June this year.

He said the wagons would ease the movement of goods from the ports to the hinterlands while reducing not only the number of articulated vehicles on the roads, but also averting possible mishaps.

The cargo train to ferry the wagons arrived in Lagos on Monday and would depart for the Dala Inland Dry Port in Kano, on Friday. (GBN)
