NGX trades N108bn worth of shares in tepid transactions last week

Lagos, July 7, 2025 – The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) traded 5.466 billion shares worth N108.099 billion in 118,570 deals last week.

This was in contrast to the 3.903 billion shares valued at N102.221 billion that changed hands in 114,484 deals in the preceding week.

The Financial Services Industry, measured by volume, led the activity chart with 2.739 billion shares valued at N34.538 billion traded in 42,646 deals.

The industry contributed 50.12% and 31.95% to the total equity turnover volume and value, respectively.

The Oil and Gas Industry followed with 852.042 million shares worth N39.838 billion traded in 10,555 deals, while the Services Industry placed third with 400.194 million shares worth N2.517 billion traded in 9,214 deals.

Trading in the top three equities, namely Royal Exchange Plc, Access Holdings Plc and Japaul Gold & Ventures Plc, measured by volume, accounted for 1.688 billion shares worth N12.816 billion traded in 8,036 deals.

The three equities contributed 30.88% and 11.86% to the total equity turnover volume and value, respectively.

Seventy-eight equities appreciated in price during the week, same as 78 equities in the preceding week.

Twenty equities depreciated in price, lower than the 27 in the preceding week, while 49 equities remained unchanged, higher than 43 recorded in the previous week.

The NGX All-Share Index and Market Capitalization appreciated by 0.83% and 0.50% to close the week at 120,989.66 and N 76.339 trillion, respectively.
