
Abuja, Jan, 12, 2026 – The operatives National of the Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Ebonyi have arrested 157 suspects and seized 134.483kg of illicit drugs in the state.
Jude Ahamefule, the state Commander, disclosed this tin Abakaliki on Monday.
He said the arrests and seizures were made between October and December 2025 adding that the they included 123 males and 34 females.
The state Commander said six out of those arrested had been convicted.
Ahamefule said the drugs seized included cannabis sativa, heroin, methamphetamine, tramadol, diazepam and psychotropic substances.
He listed the seizures as cannabis sativa (106.978kg); tramadol (100mg), 2,619 capsules; methamphetamine, 1.407kg (303 pinches); diazepam, 0.0589kg (700 tablets); and phenobarbitone syrup, 480ml, among others.
“We rehabilitated and discharged four clients, and admitted six within the period under review.
“Currently, a total of 12 clients are receiving rehabilitation in our facility.
“Forty-four suspects were referred to the counselling unit of the command in the period under review,” Ahamefule said.
He pledged the commitment of the command to the fight against drug abuse and trafficking and advised those involved in the illicit activities to desist.
