Ministry of Interior realised N6bn revenue in 2024 – minister

Abuja, Jan. 28, 2025 – The Federal Ministry of Interior realised N6 billion revenue in 2024,

Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the minister, said this in Abuja on Tuesday while briefing news men on the activities of the ministry in 2024.

He said the revenue was a 50% increase from the revenue realised in the preceding year,

The minister said about ₦3.2 billion of the revenue were realized from expatriate quota applications, ₦2.4 billion from marriage registrations, ₦392 million from citizenship applications and ₦12 million from places of worship.

He said the ministry carried out some reforms in 2024 which were already impacting positively on the activities of the ministry.

Tunji-Ojo said the reforms had led to improved service delivery and also building institutions that reflect the evolving needs of Nigerians.

He also said that the ministry was leveraging the reforms and technology to improve efficiency across its departments.

The minister commended some agencies under the ministry for contributing to the achievements of the ministry in 2024.

He particularly commended the Nigerian Correctional Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, Federal Fire Service, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

Tunji-Ojo said the federal government was determined to make Nigeria a more business-friendly environment and this had made the country more open for businesses.  (GBN)
