Lagos, Aug. 5, 2025 – Lagos, Nigeria, and Cairo, Egypt have been ranked among the top 10 riskiest places for tourists globally in Forbes Advisor’s 2024 rankings.
The new study reveals that Lagos has a risk score of 91.54, while Cairo’s risk score stands at 83.44.
Cities in Venezuela, Pakistan, and Myanmar were also identified as some of the most dangerous destinations.
The study compared 60 international cities across seven risk categories – crime, personal security, health, infrastructure, natural disasters, and digital security – to create a comprehensive travel safety rating.
Scores out of 100 were then calculated to reflect the overall risk to travellers visiting each city.
Venezuelan capital, Caracas, posed the most severe risk for travellers, receiving a full 100 score for danger, the highest on the list.
