Ilorin, Jan. 30, 2026 – The Kwara State House of Assembly has passed ₦656.5 billion Appropriation Bill of the state for 2026.
The bill was passed on Friday by the House of Assembly after its adoption by the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation.
While passing the bill, Yakubu Salihu, the Speaker, said the House reviewed budget proposal upward by over ₦10.5 billion to meet the current economic realities.
He said that the recurrent expenditure was increased to over ₦409.6 billion from the initial estimate submitted by the executive.
The speaker also said that the allocation to capital expenditure was also increased to ₦271 billion from the ₦254 billion initially allocated so as to provide adequate funding for approved projects across the state.
He said the assembly also reviewed upward the allocation for debt servicing to ₦14.2 billion from what was earmarked in the earlier proposal.
The speaker said the revised budget reflected the commitment of the House to ensuring that government’s spending aligns with developmental priorities and economic realities.
He said that the House carefully examined the provisions in the bill and resolved to approve a realistic and implementable budget.
