FG to establish cattle breeding centres in each geopolitical zone – minister

Kaduna, July 30, 2025 – The Federal Government is to establish cattle breeding centres in the six geopolitical zones as part of its efforts to boost livestock production.

Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, the Minister of State for Agriculture, disclosed this in Kaduna on Wednesday at the second day of the citizens-government engagement and midterm assessment of the Tinubu administration.

He stressed the need for inter-ministerial collaboration between the ministries of agriculture, environment, water resources, livestock development, and the blue economy is crucial to achieving the goals of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“The synergy and collaboration of the Ministries of Agriculture, Environment, Water Resources, Livestock Development, and the Blue Economy are imperative for delivering on the Renewed Hope Agenda,” the minister said

It will be recalled that the World Bank, had last year, approved the establishment of cattle breeding centres across the country to boost livestock production and food security.

It pledged its support for the entablement of the centres and gave the federal government the mandate to determine their locations.

One of the centres, the Kogi Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (Kogi L-PRES), has been established in Lokoja, Kogi state
