Abuja, April 30, 2025 – The Mexican embassy in Nigeria has inaugurated the Nigeria-Mexico Chamber of Commerce to boost trade relations between the two countries.
Amb. Alfredo Miranda of Mexico, who inaugurated the chamber on Tuesday, described the gesture as a new chapter in the economic, cultural and strategic relations between the two nations.
He expressed optimism that the chamber would foster improved business relations as the two countries share similar heritage, ideas and business opportunities.
The envoy said the chamber would also provide critical support to businesses in terms of market intelligence to promote trade and investments in both countries.
“We are certain to work, create new narrative and show to people that together Nigeria and Mexico are big power houses.
“The two countries do wonderful work for their continents. We have to continue working in trade; this is why it is important to focus on these strategic areas and see the capacity of some countries.
“I believe that in the future, we will have more positive figures than what we have just done,” he said.
Yusuf Tuggar, Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, highlighted the need for both countries to strengthen bilateral ties to harness their economic potential.
Tuggar, who was represented by Anderson Madubuike, the Director of Economic, Trade and Investment Department in the ministry, said the two countries had so much they could do to advance the global economy.
“By talking about globalisation, we are saying African countries must come together to take their rightful places in the comity of nations,” Tuggar said.
Idi Mukhtar, the Nigerian Minister of Livestock and Rural Development, promised to open new-vista for agriculture through investments in red meat production, animal disease management and processing of dairy.
”Nigeria today imports not less than 1.5 billion dollars of dairy products, we are hoping to upscale operations of the red meat industries, create opportunities and competition at the international market.
“So, the ministry is open to investment and this is where we have been able to send message to all captains of industry and the newly created NMCC,” he said.
Arim Pete, the President of Chamber, said that the inauguration of the chamber marked the beginning of a new era to be built on trust, opportunity and vision.
He described Mexico as a regional powerhouse being the 12th largest economy in the world with $1.8 trillion GDP.
