Lagos, Jan. 20, 2024 – The Association of Telephone Cable Tv and Internet Subscribers of Nigeria (ATCIS) has commended the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) for the prompt resolution of the MTN-Glo crisis.
The two GSM companies were at dangers drawn over alleged failure of Glo to pay some interconnection charges to MTN.
Sina Bilesanmi, the National President of ATCIS, made the commendation while speaking to journalists in Lagos on Friday.
“I will like to seize this opportunity to thank the board of NCC for quickly heeding to the yearnings of ATCIS and Nigerians in general by suspending the approval given to MTN to disconnect GLO calls from entering into its network,” he said.
Bilesanmi said the association had already written to the NCC, which he said, might have eventually led to the steps taken by the NCC.
“We appreciate this gesture and we will not take it for granted.
“We want to use this medium to appeal to the NCC to always avail us information and keep us in the know of their plans and take advantage of our spread across Nigeria.
“We believe that this partnership will be a progressive one,” he said.
Bilesanmi said the association was ready to ready to partner with NCC and all the stakeholders in the industry to mark the 2024 World Consumer Right Day on March 15.
He sought the support of the NCC, Network Operators, the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency, Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) to defend the interest and rights of telecom subscribers in Nigeria. (GBN)
