Lagos, Nov. 23, 2023 – The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has impounded 15 tankers parked indiscriminately along Oshodi-Apapa Expressway in Lagos.
Adebayo Taofiq, the Spokesman for LASTMA, said in a statement that the vehicles were impounded today, Thursday.
He said the enforcement was carried out on the directives of the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Transportation, Sola Giwa.
Taofik said some of the tankers were apprehended inside Mile 2 Estate after investigations revealed that some of them now parked indiscriminately and causing serious traffic for motorists coming out from the estates.
The statement quoted the LASTMA Director of Operations, Peter Gbejemede, as saying that the enforcement exercise was in accordance with the law.
He promised that the exercise would be a continuous one until zero tolerance was achieved on illegal and indiscriminate parking across the state.
Gbejemede advised motorists to collaborate with the government by informing LASTMA of any broken down or abandoned trailers and trucks. (GBN)
