Lagos, Oct. 9, 2023 – Trading on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) was on the upbeat last week as 2.410 billion shares worth N22.115 billion were traded in 27,965 deals.
This was in contrast to the 1.339 billion shares valued at N17.916 billion which changed hands in 27,874 deals in the previous week.
The Financial Services Industry, measured by volume, led the activity chart with 1.261 billion shares valued at N9.660 billion traded in 12,897 deals
The industry contributed 52.31% and 43.68% to the total equity turnover volume and value, respectively.
The Healthcare Industry followed with 667.197 million shares worth N1.092 billion traded in 437 deals.
The third place was taken by Oil and Gas Industry with 162.005 million shares worth N1.778 billion exchanged in 2,612 deals.
Transactions in the top three equities, namely Neimeth International Pharmaceutical, Universal Insurance and Fidelity Bank, measured by volume, accounted for 1.213 billion shares worth N2.322 billion traded in 1,095 deals, contributing 50.35% and 10.50% to the total equity turnover volume and value, respectively.
Price of 40 equities appreciated during the week, higher than 25 equities in the previous week.
Thirty-six equities depreciated in price, lower than 47 in the previous week, while 79 equities remained unchanged, lower than 83 recorded in the previous week.
The NGX All-Share Index and market capitalisation appreciated by 0.11% and 0.49% to close the week at 66,454.57 and N36.510 trillion, respectively. (GBN)
