Buhari appoints Sakirat Madein, first female Accountant-General of Federation

Abuja, May 19, 2023 – President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday appointed Dr. (Mrs) Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein as the first female Accountant-General of the Federation.

This is contained in a statement signed by Mohammed Abdullahi Ahmed, the Director of Communications, Office of the Head of Service of the Federation,.

Madein’s appointment took effect from Thursday, May 18, 2023.

Her selection followed a successful conduct in the selection process along with  19 other candidates for the position in January 2023.

The vacancy opened following the suspension of the Idris Ahmed, former Accountant General of the Federation in May, 2022 over allegations of corruption and embezzlement.

Madein is taking over from Mr. Sylva Okolieboh, who has been in acting capacity as the AGF. (GBN).
