Abuja, Aug. 10, 2026 – The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has formally handed over the Digital Industrial Park (DIP) and Digital Bridge Institute (DBI) facilities to the Enugu State Government to accelerate digital transformation of the state.
The handover ceremony was presided over by Governor Peter Mbah and the Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida.
Speaking at the presentation, Maida described the facilities as platforms to develop the people, ideas and enterprises that will power Nigeria’s digital future.
He said the NCC was pleased to hand over the facilities to a state government that had demonstrated the vision and commitment required to activate them for productive use.
The NCC boss said the development marked a major milestone in the partnership between the federal government and Enugu State government to promote digital innovation, technology skills development and industrial growth.
He said the transfer of the facilities is expected to support Enugu State’s ambition of becoming a leading digital economy hub in Nigeria by providing infrastructure for technology training, innovation and digital entrepreneurship.
“These facilities were conceived as platforms for innovation, entrepreneurship and human capital development.
“They were designed to deepen digital skills, support startups, attract investment, create jobs and position Nigeria as a competitive destination for business process outsourcing, knowledge process outsourcing and other technology-enabled services,” he said.
Maida said the intervention was not merely about physical infrastructure, but about building capacity, expanding opportunity and supporting enterprise in the digital economy.
“Buildings alone do not create innovation. People do. Ideas do. Entrepreneurs do. And partnerships bring all these elements together,” he said.
Maida said the success of the facilities would be judged by their practical impact on skills development, idea generation, business creation and job opportunities, rather than by the quality of the buildings or equipment alone.
“Our expectation is that the partnership will support Enugu’s ambition to become a leading destination for digital services, artificial intelligence, startup incubation, outsourcing, research and technology-enabled enterprise,” he said.
