Lagos, July 9, 2026 – DataPro, the technology-driven credit rating agency, has upgraded the long-term credit rating of Dangote Cement Plc to AA+ from AA.
It also affirmed Dangote Cement’s short-term rating of A1.
The rating is valid until June 16, 2027.
DataPro said the rating upgrade reflects Dangote Cement Plc’s sustained financial strength, resilient
operating performance and leading market position within Nigeria and across Africa.
Kehinde Rasheed, the Business Development and Client Services Manager of DataPro, said in a statement that the assessment was based on a comprehensive review of the company’s capitalization, earnings profile, liquidity, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and the sustainability of its financial performance over the medium to long term.
“The rating is underpinned by the company’s strong brand presence, dominant market share, healthy earnings profile, robust asset base, and experienced management team.
“These strengths continue to support Dangote Cement’s capacity to meet its financial obligations in a timely manner despite prevailing macroeconomic and industry headwinds,” the statement said.
The review said Dangote Cement delivered an exceptional financial performance in 2025, recording revenue of ₦4.31 trillion, representing a 20% year-on-year increase, while Profit Before Tax rose by 109% to ₦1.53 trillion.
The company’s profitability was strengthened by strong revenue growth, improved operating efficiency, lower finance costs and a stronger capital structure.
DataPro said the rating carries a maximum shelf life of 12 calendar months in line with International Best Practice.
It said the rating is not an offer to trade in securities nor a substitute for the user’s judgement, but for reference purposes.
