Abuja, March 10, 2026 – The U.S. Embassy in Abuja has informed U.S. citizens of a possible terrorist threat against U.S. facilities and U.S. affiliated schools in Nigeria.
According to an advisory it issued on Monday, the embassy advised that U.S. citizens should take additional precautions when traveling to the U.S. Embassy, the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos, and U.S. affiliated schools, to include varying times and routes.
“Increasing awareness of your surroundings, avoiding predictable routines, and reviewing general security precautions with your family can help reduce your risk.
It advised U.S. citizens to beware of their surroundings, keep a low profile, and review their personal securities, amongst others.

“The Consular Sections of Embassy Abuja and Consulate General Lagos remain open. Please monitor our website https://ng.usembassy.gov/ for updates,” the embassy advised.
