Abuja, March 7, 2025 – Nigeria’s electricity generation has reached a peaked of 5,801 megawatts (MWh) and a maximum daily energy generation of 128,370.75 megawatt-hours (MWh)
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.
It said this would be the highest level ever attained in power generation in Nigeria.
TCN said the feat was achieved on March 4, 2025 at 21:15 hours with a stable frequency of 49.69Hz.
It also attributed the feat to series of incremental improvements in the power sector.
TCN said the peak power generated was efficiently transmitted and optimally utilised by the distribution companies for improved supply by end users.
TCN said Nigeria had recorded some new records in its power generation lately.
It said these achievements underscored the continued progress in the power sector due to the commitment of the current administration and the operators in advancing the nation’s power sector.
Adebayo Adelabu, the Minister of Power, expressed delight on the achievement.
He attributed the achievement of the milestone to the concerted efforts of the Federal Government and key stakeholders to address longstanding challenges and optimise the nation’s power infrastructure. (GBN)
