Senate sacks Ndume as Chief Whip

Abuja, July 17, 2024 – The Senate on Wednesday sacked Mohammed Ali Ndume (APC-Borno South) as its Majority Whip.

It has appointed Mohammed Tahir Monguno (APC Borno North) as the new Majority Whip.

Ndume was also stripped of his Vice Chairmanship of the Senate Committee on Appropriation

This followed a letter from the APC to the Senate to remove Ndume as its Chief Whip.

The letter was signed by the National Secretary of the APC, Senator Ajibola Basiru and the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Felix Morka

The letter was read on the floor of the Senate by its President, Godwiil Akpabio.

Akpabio, acting on the letter,  directed the Sergeant-At-Arms to lead Monguno to occupy the seat of the Majority Whip.

He later announced Ndume as the new Chairman of the Senate Committee on Tourism.  (GBN)
