Abuja, June 27, 2024 – Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace, on Thursday alleged that some private aircraft in Nigeria were being used for money laundering, drug trafficking and other illegal activities. Keyamo made the allegation in Abuja while inaugurating a Ministerial Taskforce to check illegal aircraft charter in the country. The minister said that the illicit actions had cost the industry billions of dollars and security breaches. The eight-man committee is headed by Ado Sanusi, the Chief Executive of Aero Contractors. Abuja, June 27, 2024 -The National Agency of Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has destroyed N985 million worth of fake, counterfeit, substandard, expired, and unwholesome regulated products.  The products were set ablaze in Kano on Thursday. The products included antibiotics, antihypertensives, antimalarials, analgesics, herbal remedies, psychoactive and controlled substances. They also included creams, pomade, ointments and chemicals such as insecticides, pesticides, agrochemicals as well as medical devices that included diagnostic kits and infusion giving sets. The resolution was adopted after the consideration of the request of President Bola Tinubu. Abuja, June 27, 2024 – The Nigeria Governors’ Forum on Thursday assured the nation of better minimum wage as the labour and government return to negotiation table. The governors gave the assurance in the communique issued after their extended meeting in Abuja on Wednesday. Kaduna, June 26, 2024 – Nasir El-Rufai, a former Kaduna State Governor, on Wednesday sued the Kaduna Assembly over unfounded allegations made against him during a probe of his administration. The Assembly had indicted El-Rufai for siphoning N432 billion with significant debt obligations during his eight-year tenure. El-Rufai filed the suit bordering on fundamental rights infringement at Federal High Court in Kaduna. Abuja, June 25, 2024 – Air Vice Marshal Adebayo Lawal (rtd.), a former Minister of Youth and Sports and Military Administrator of Benue State, has died at the age of 83. He died in his sleep at his home in the early hours of Sunday, June 23, 2024. His death has been confirmed by his daughter, Mrs. Yinka Enahoro. Born on September 14, 1941, in Offa, Kwara State, Lawal was a pioneer officer of the Nigerian Air Force, which he joined in 1963. (GBN)
