AfDB commits $10b to make Africa world’s food basket

Nigeria to earn $500m from cashew exports in 2023

Abuja, Jan. 25, 2023 -Dr Mohammed Abubakar, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, said Nigeria projected to realise $500 million from cashew export in 2023. Nigeria generated $250 million from the export of cashew nuts in 2022. Lagos anticipates N1.2bn revenue from agriculture in 2022

The Lagos State government says it is anticipating revenue of N1.2 billion from agriculture in 2022. The state Commissioner for Agriculture, Abisola Olusanya, said this at the just concluded 2022 annual Lagos Food Festival in Lagos. African Development Bank approves $5.12m financing for emergency food production in Liberia

Liberia, Nov. 24, 2022 The Board of directors of the African Development Bank Group has approved $5.12 million financing for the Emergency Food Production Program in Liberia. The bank said in a statement today that this would pave the way for the Liberian government to support farmers as they increase climate resilient food production and mitigate the impact of the ongoing war in Ukraine. The funding includes a grant of $2.28 million and a loan of $2.84 million from the Bank Group’s Transition Support Facility. Agriculture is a major part of Liberia’s economy. …
