Abuja, Aug. 21, 2023 – President Bola Tinubu has advised the newly sworn-in ministers to see their appointment as a call to serve God and humanity.
Tinubu gave this charge after the new ministers took their oath of service at the State House in Abuja on Monday.
“As your country honours you today with this call to service, you must each work to make yourself worthy in the eyes of God and all our nation’s people, he said.
Tinubu said he would hold the ministers accountable for any fall in the standards that the administration had promised Nigerians.
“I know you and I delegate this authority, but the greatest number of Nigerians are highly expectant of delivery, accountability, and transparency.
“Nigerians expect that you will act with integrity, dignity, and deliver. I will hold you to that standard we all promised Nigerians.
“It’s all about a great team, and I believe we have them here.
“It is a high honour to be chosen to serve as a minister in the Federal Executive Council of our beloved republic, and with such a high honour comes tremendous responsibility.
“In this moment of abundant promise and peril in equal measure, all of you who have been sworn in have been called to distinguish yourselves.
“Your assignment begins immediately.
“Your highest obligation is to restore public faith in government so that our people can once again believe that the right hands in government can be a positive force for transformation and a vehicle for the collective progress of this country.”
The new ministers include Nyesom Wike, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory; Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation; Wale Edun, Finance Minister and Coordinating Minister of the Economy).
Others are Adegboyega Oyetola, Transportation Minister; David Umahi, Works Minister; and Betta Edu, Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Minister, among others. (GBN)
