Kano, Dec. 6, 2024 – Kano Palace is again embroiled in crisis as early as 6.00 am on Friday when security agencies surrounded the palace and blocked its gates.
There is also restriction of vehicular movements in the area.
The reason for the deployment of police and plain clothes security men to the palace is not known even by the palace officials.
Shehu Sani, a former Senator from Kaduna Central had earlier in the day dropped a hint of the crisis in Kano palace through his X handle where he wrote: “In the interest of peace, there should be serious restraint in the application of force, might, and power over the Kano emirship tussle.”
Some sources within the palace, however, said the situation might be caused by the plan by Emir Muhammadu Sanusi to host a stakeholders’ meeting on the tax reform bill at the palace today.
Others associated the situation to the plan by the emir to install a new district head for Bichi town at the place. (GBN)
